One of the clear takeaways from “The Great Influenza” that’s all too resonant today is that 1920s culture valorized WWI heroes, but wanted to memory hole the pandemic. Curious if there were witch hunts targeting those who tried to keep people safe too, or if that’s a modern innovation?

My favorite part of this is it’s basically a reverse Alinsky tutorial. “To oppose AI correctly, you should depersonalize the issue, stop highlighting villains, focus on the abstract rather than the concrete, avoid making demands, and make sure not to appeal to anyone’s self interest.”
