I feel like it's almost certainly a result of lots of "fans" saying "the campaign was better in the earlier halos!" Without them or the higher ups examining any of the reasons why they feel that way (spoiler: nostalgia is a hell of a drug)
Jeff GerstmannI think focusing an entire product around the Halo 1 campaign is a great way to expose that the pacing in that campaign is often slow as hell and hasn't aged particularly well.
