Great job organizing, Piali!

The clue is in the name

How I wish this were (still?) true now that I have one in college

I know in the long run it will (probably) be fine, but seeing reviews that still use Hunter's accusations (which were really based on nothing) gets me down, and added to the current stresses with NIH funding, are very concerning.

the science itself is still really fun (we keep finding surprising things, which is both fun and sometimes frustrating!), and the people in my lab are great and persistent.

with this for the past 5 years, it's very stressful and always on my mind. HOWEVER, we have made some really amazing findings in the past year on this TEI pathway that I can't wait to publish-

I'm not sure that anything short of a public/published apology from Hunter will ever fix the damage done to my lab, and I'm not sure how we will get funded to continue the work, if we can't get a full slate of fair reviewers. It's incredibly frustrating. It's been such a drag to have had to deal

Grant and paper reviewers have quoted him, and one (slightly unhinged) person screamed at me during a coffee break at a worm meeting using similar language. (None of these people have ever done worm behavioral experiments, it's clear.) Gossip seems to override facts and data for these folks.

It's telling that they have no idea how anything works

And a liar - no way that was an academic scientist

010

I blocked them - what a loser

110

"you tenured boomers" haha wtf

110

I was going to note that....

Meanwhile it's good to continue and consider additional approaches that actually work, as Colette has been doing for the past few years

120

Just curious, are you a scientist running a lab in academia?

110

They literally would not give a shit

It would be nice if leaders in the industries you mentioned would realize their pipelines will dry up without us academic scientists, and stand up and DO something to support us
