The Great Ace Attorney was actually more specific than that. iirc, Ryunosuke and Susato would also use honorifics if no one else was around, implying they'd default to speaking Japanese if English speakers weren't present.

And that just doesn't really seem useful to me. Like you're probably catching a lot of people who wouldn't consider THEMSELVES gamers, which seems counterintuitive. And yeah, I dunno, if you specifically only play Madden or whatever, it seems like your interest is more sports, not video games.

I'm not sure how to classify this either. Like, I'm not one who wants to "gatekeep", but at the same time it feels like you'd at least want labels that are useful/practical. Like there was a time where some wanted to push that "anyone who touches any genre of game for any period of time is a gamer"

It also inherently makes it easier just to use Team Rose to collect the Emeralds since their stages are easier/shorter. I don't remember if their special stages are also easier.

Just replying to the original post for simplicity, but yeah the special stages are the most annoying thing for me just because "carry the key to the end with no damage" and iirc "if you lose the special stage, fuck you, start the normal stage over and get the key again"

I think literally the only time I've ever personally heard it referred to as Japanimation was Otacon in Metal Gear Solid 1. That's how you know Otacon was a real one.
