Reminds me of the E-coli outbreak from the early 90s. . . only more so. This is the result of those in power forgetting safety in pursuit of meaningless profit.

Gambler events are a good way to spend a weekend. I tend to cook for my friends, and help those who need it. The cleanup is what attracts me to the events, as I grew up around where the OG Gambler takes place, and I want future generations to enjoy what I did as a youth.

The events are fun. I've been a Gambler since 2018. We're an odd bunch, and I'd encourage any gearhead that enjoys land stewardship to attend at least one event.

I prefer donating cash (They can make it go further than I can) though my most recent donation was a bunch of protein shakes I no longer needed. (Well within their best by dates.) The bank seemed both surprised and very pleased with the donation.

Tomorrow and thursday I'm looking at properties. Hoping to move somewhere quieter than where I currently live.

Yeah, though it was a bit of a fight. Policy is to send them to the incinerator. So I brought in my flashlight kit and did a bit of a presentation on fluorescent and phosphorescent minerals. Here's the phosphorescent calcite cube I used under 255nm UV:

Nah, fairly typical calcium gallstones. Just bigger than normal. (They were 2cm when removed. The photo is after I soaked them in 3% hydrogen peroxide for a couple days to remove any biofilm. This shrunk them to about 17mm)

Sometimes morbid humor is what you need. I nearly died a couple times in May when my anatomy decided to grow its own fluorescent minerals. . . needed to have humor aboot that! I AM passionate about fluorescent minerals, but perhaps growing my own was a bit much.

Took a Girl scout troop to alaska, and let them discover the state. Teach young drivers and prospective drivers how to change tires and oil filters. I teach metal casting and soldering. I've given away dozens of telescopes to interested kids. I do presentations of fluorescent minerals. . .

'swhy I have several godchildren. I'll never have kids of my own, but I love passing on skills and knowledge, and showing paths media doesn't.

To be fair, Next Level is often chaotic enough that I need hearing protection. Took my niece and Nephews there a couple days ago. Much fun was had for all.
