The producer keeps assuming i'm way younger and less knowledgeable than I am, but today he made an "I can't believe it's not butter" reference and was like "all the young people in the room are so confused right now" and it's like Bruh Even if I was young, that is still a thing that exists

laid down the quilt stuff to try and baste it all together so I can quilt it and get the blanket done in time for my friend's son's birthday this weekend, and Jarvis, who for some reason assumes that every time you lay something out, it's for his comfort, fuckin came over and *sat* on it

My family left a little while ago and I always get a little sad immediately after seeing them. I think I grew up so used to the big family being together all the time (even tho during childhood/adolescence my relationship with them was not great). Most of my sibs used to live here before moving away

Last night, getting ready for bed (sleeping on the office floor bc I let my parents sleep on my bed when they visited) and we walked off for a second only to come back to see Jarvis had trotted in and fell asleep in such a way that neither me nor partner could lie down haha

my family dropped in driving back down from seattle and is spending the night in my apartment and Jarvis is *so* happy

i was watching a documentary on the Gee's bend quilters (yes, I also watched one yesterday--they make me want to make things, so I chase the inspiration lol) and Partner, who used to be a fine artist, walked by and got really enamored by the quilts. Said it was like beautiful modern art paintings.

Been watching documentaries about the Gee's Bend quilters and it's helping me feel less hung up on making things perfect. These old black grandmas who've been making quilts for generations make these things however way they want bc it makes them happy. I want this attitude.

My sis got super into Tunic and was trying to figure out all the secrets and I joked that she should try and translate the language and she sent me photos of her work today showing she's actually fuckin doing it ahahaha

One stupid thing I'm doing is using my phone or a digital watch with a stopwatch and turning it on before I do something so I can go "okay how long does this actually take" so that when I'm about to throw a tantrum about having to do something, i can go "your brain is lying, it won't take forever"

Making chicken and macaroni sopas for dinner. I think after getting a Costco membership, I'm getting used to doing what I used to do, which was buying basics and then figuring out what we can make with them through the week. This had changed a bit after a deep depression a few years ago haha

My partner, who isnt an ADHD sufferer, is supportive and goes out of their way to try and understand me, sometimes introducing stuff to me I'd never verbalized. Once they came up all "I learned about this thing called 'getting over the Wall of Suck' today!" excited like a kid coming home from school
