Highly dependent on the station type. There are 4 providers of AWOSes certified for airport use by the FAA. They each have different Temp/RH sensors. ASOS has been converting all of their Temp/RH sensors to HMP155.

This is the 8th lightning fatality of 2026 and the 6th in New Jersey since 2021. July is the peak of lightning season and lightning fatalities in the United States. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. When thunder roars, go indoors!

It is uncommon to see strong tornadoes in the morning in Wisconsin. Looking back from 1950 through April 30 of this year, the prime time for strong tornadoes in Wisconsin is between 2 and 7 pm (CST). Yesterday's tornado began at 10:56 am CST, making it just the 10th to start during that hour.

Today is a much cooler, less humid, and calmer day. The eastern half of the state saw quite a lot of rain and severe weather yesterday, so the quieter day will allow for clean up and the tornado survey in Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah to finish.

We've received reports of another lightning fatality in Wisconsin this morning. This would be Wisconsin's 2nd lightning fatality of 2026 and 3rd in the last two years. The victim was trimming trees when a thunderstorm developed nearby. www.wmtv15news.com/2026/07/27/2...
