Finally recovering energy-wise from Saturday's wildfire evacuation nightmare. Keplar's back to following me everywhere & Casper has come out from under my bed. Times like this that I am grateful that I don't live out at our cabin year round yet. 😅

I just got home from being evacuated in the dark due to TWO wildfires & it was a nightmare but still not as much of a nightmare as all the slag that we went through with my mom dying. Keplar had the longest car ride of his life (sang the song of his ancestors,) & Casper was simply a good boy.

Yesterday my reef as an ecosystem turned 3 years old. 🏆🪸 I'm extremely proud of myself for pushing on through the challenges that I have faced in keeping my reef, & I am always working to improve my aquatic husbandry & care. Most new reefers fail in their first year but I've kept going.❤️❤️❤️🐠

I just bought a second apple tree; it's a Braeburn, a variety that I really loved back when I was hiking across Scotland which was in grocery stores and it is just a yearling bare root whip, but guys, I am so excited! Now my honeycrisp apple tree will have a pollination partner.❤️❤️❤️🍎

Last night we had what might be our last campfire for the year given that full fire ban starts this Friday (which is fine!) & I'm honestly a bit stunned that it didn't start sooner given the state of drought that we're in. Our lake looks like it usually does in SEPTEMBER, yet it's July.
