43 years ago today, Joe Carter made his MLB debut with the Chicago Cubs. He pinch ran for Cubs third baseman Ron Cey after Cey had doubled in the top of the ninth. Carter was stranded on base, but the Cubs defeated the Phillies 4-3 at Veterans Stadium.

This is heartbreaking. What a talent he was.
