2plus2isFive on YT. ⚔️✊🏽 Thinking about starting a substack... 🤔

Also, I meant to ask. Duggan did Savage Avengers. Have you read it? How was it? I was thinking of grabbing the omnibus but I'm lukewarm on superheroes.

Great article. It is an interesting contrast and a strange relic. I feel if they were going to launch it as another colour book, they should have just released it as a "Giant-Sized" book. They already released a giant-sized in the era. Incidentally it also held the first De La Torre Conan story.

Wow wow wow! Another treasure! I need to read my Breckenridge.

You ain't wrong. I think it was the fact that most comics in the 90s (my formative years) looked like doo doo from a butt, is the reason why I never got into comics until recently. 🤣

000

How bad is it?

Ivan Gil is becoming one of my favourite artists. His work is just so luscious. It's a pleasure to observe. The details are sumptuous and the expressiveness of his characters are wonderful. We as Conan fans be eating GOOD!

Some amazing panels. The REH poem splash page was a highlight for sure!

You and me both. Not all of my de Camp/Carter books have illustrations.

The culture war is being fought against idiots! Take O Brother, Where Art Thou. None of these fucks complain about the Oddesey being set in the deep American South in the 30s and having John Goodman run around as the cyclops. Did fucking Homer write "Man of Constant Sorrow" you dipships?!

So I was looking at the site isfdb.org and I compared your ISBN code (beside the price on the cover) to mine. While yours was not an exact match, it seems yours was printed in 1979. Mine on the other hand was printed in 1982. So maybe they got the rights to Maroto's art in the intervening years?

So strange! Mine says 1969 as well, but that's certainly not the printing date of these ace editions. They must be different editions.

010

Oh that's interesting. We can test a Theory. Perhaps they only did in later reprinting runs of the books. Here are some pics from my Conan of Cimmeria, does yours look the same? I notice the image of Conan on horseback in the desert is originally from Conan and the Sorcerer by Offutt.

Congrats. It's so fun to collect these. I have them all except usurper. Which also happens to be my favourite Frazetta cover. Also, I'm quite partial to the Ace editions of these (your blue Buccaneer). Largely because they have uncredited Esteban Maroto illustrations inside.

That skull in the middle is quite unimpressed to be bearing the weight of the whole hog!

What a treasure

It's quite the scene. I like to imagine this is going to be a running tradition with you and the Solomon Kane series. Realistic natural wildlife. Serpent Ring: Elephant Lion Errant: Croc Vs. Lion Series #3: ❓❓❓

000

Wow. Barely got a second to breathe today!

000

Wow! First of all, thank you for the response. Second, I'm stoked for this. Not only because you're an amazing writer, but because it will be cool to essentially get a book that was written 30 years ago. It will be like a time capsule of the zeitgeist of the period!

010

Yes huge congrats sir! Have you finished it already? Is it the same one you mentioned in your Savage Sword interview; the one you had been working on before the license holders stopped looking for novels?
