There were so many houses we didn’t even bother to hang up most of our art and pictures because we knew we wouldn’t be there long enough for it to be worth it. Now that we have our forever home, every wall is decorated.

There is, in fact, a very long list of mental health disorders that disqualify you from joining the military, and many of them will disqualify you from further service should you develop them while serving.

We would never allow, without pushback, cis people to discuss the trans experience as if we know anything about it the way non-veterans will discuss veterans’ issues and even disparage a whole population. I wouldn’t deign to discuss a Black woman’s lived experience as though I had grounds to.
