& so to the last “Ann Droid”. It wasn’t a series I was interested in. I was so wrong. I can’t recommend it enough. A near-future scifi sitcom that’s beautifully written & performed, it’s both funny & profoundly touching. The best comedy of the year so far. My fav scfi of 2026 too. Crikey.

“The 36-Hour War”. Just 3 months after the US’s nuclear assaults upon Imperial Japan, Life magazine printed this 👇 about America’s inevitable future vulnerability to atomic attack. The graphics are still unsettling. Reading the mags of the period, you can practically feel the paranoia setting in.

Actually I’d still like full sets of each. But with prices of around $250 for a single unused sheet, I think I’ll just have to pass.

Niche alert klaxon! Watching 1981’s “The Decline Of Western Civilisation I” documentary about the LA Punk scene, I noticed - as you do - the kitchen in which the late Darby Crash of The Germs & Michelle were filmed had cupboards with 1970s DC & Marvel Comics stickers. How I wanted those in the 70s.

Hawkman can talk to birds. Aquaman to fish. But Bats can’t even decipher a poops-warning.

Finally got around to the new(ish) remix of 1974’s Queen II. Well. In a world of unnecessary/second-rate remixes, this one genuinely works. Clear & revealing, it really brings out how Glam they were, perfectly in keeping with other late-Glam bands like Sparks, Cockney Rebel & Be Bop Deluxe.

Tonight’s late night movie: 1981’s “The Decline of Western Civilization” Part 1. Crikey.
