Congrats! That is great for you and, although they don't know it yet, those students are going to *learn*

10 engines to monitor; 6 prop driven and four jets. And the prop engines had a tendency to catch fire. exhausting, to say the least

110

Keep in mind that in 1955 the draft was still in place so parsing out recruitment numbers was somewhat more complicated BUT the movie certainly reinforced SAC as a branch to serve in with a clear message and purpose for both recruitment inside the service as well as convincing the public of funding

030

this is the correct answer. No matter what Matt says.

I am 100% convinced they are related. Idiocy feeds idiocy but the arrogance of infallibility that the techbros, who happen to be speadheading/funding, both AI and MAGA is the heart of it.

To expand, the B-47 was a medium range bomber and relied on air-to-air refueling AND forward bases for the proposed strike mission. As SAC pulled back from forward basing in the 1950s, there was a problematic gap that the b-47 couldn't properly cover until the b-52 and ICBMs filled in

030

there was a bridge but it was very short, relatively speaking. B-52 entered service in 1955, directly replacing the B-36. The last B-36s left service only 4 years later. Considering there were 350+ units to replace, it's a staggeringly fast turnover

130

The B-52 had/has the range also to strike globally from bases in the continental US, esp with aerial refueling. And it predates the ICBM

You know Paula Dean will be a recurring guest

010

i remember watching it in theaters and just adoring it and then I watched it again a few years ago and loved that it still really held up over time.

010

I rank The Orville as the best Star Trek, so not a film ;)

110

There is so much time for Infantino to weasel some sort of a solution to this; i'm not holding my breath that any change is actually coming

120

two turning, two burning, two smoking, two choking and two more unaccounted for

110

i love the movie, in part for the visuals but largely because of the period of history it covers.

010

and more honest about fucking people over too

010

now I'm going to spend the day in the office trying to work the expression "Brontosaurus Sex Dungeon" into casual conversation My meeting with HR tomorrow should be epically weird.
