As an archaeo kid, provenance is key to preserving the past. It can reveal times joyous before times tragic; crimes now concealed behind pristine suits & luxury vehicles, but suspect they're not griping about those. It's one thing to market "glory" vs. passing along history, and this is the latter~

i hate how much people care about their ships being "canon" now. spirk fans didn't publish zines full of fanfics in the 70s only for modern fandom to grovel at the knees of corporations and beg for things to be canon. use your imaginations, don't allow billionaires to think for you.
