Excellent advice. I've archived my blog on Internet Archive but need to update that, thanks for the suggestion. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

I've seen Charlemagne more times than I can count in online trees. Um..... #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

Because the vast majority of your tree is thoroughly sourced, you increase the credibility of your ancestor info. Plus you disclose that your tree is a work in progress, which is a thoughtful approach! #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

My original FOIA to Vet Adm for Dad's vet medical file was submitted in early Dec 2024. In Aug 2025 I got minimal info (no file) & appealed. No response. My local Member of Congress has followed up for me 3x in 2026, getting runaround & no date for response. 😡 #Genealogy

May I also recommend a few other US #mystery authors who write engaging/distinctive characters and whose books have a strong sense of place: C.J. Box, William Kent Krueger, Nevada Barr, Michael Connelly, Linda Castillo. You can see I'm a big fan of detective fiction, like you!

Yes! Very good suggestions. Plus remember to thank these folks in advance for considering your request and let them know how much their assistance is appreciated. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

Agree with you! Also I like Lt. Leaphorn in the Tony Hillerman/Anne Hillerman series set in the American Southwest; and Guido Bernetti in the Donna Leon series set in Venice. #Mystery #DetectiveFiction

Here's how the NY Public Library manages ILL. Quite a logistical feat! www.nytimes.com/2026/07/31/n...

Interlibrary loan makes possible all the book clubs that meet at my local library--we can get enough copies from around the state to meet club demand! Even our largest book club (30 members reading mysteries) can get enough copies. I 🩷 my library and ILL! #Reading #Library #Mysteries

Wow, what a story. First the photo in a newspaper, then the dog tag found in a field. Incroyable! #FamilyHistory

Agree...they can be "clues" but without sources, that's all they are. And the way unsourced ancestors spread from one tree to another, I feel they are slop, IMHO.

Yes, neighbor's family tree includes Bavarian-born Johannes who named his son the same--then son came to New York City and began using "John" on his #FamilyHistory documents. Easier to research!

#AncestryHour I do add #Ancestors to #WikiTree as another way of sharing my #FamilyTree beyond subscription sites--on a free platform where sources are expected, changes are documented, rarely do meddlers go crazy with ancestor nonsense. #Genealogy

Have you seen "The Center Seat" doc series about the beginnings and evolution of Star Trek? Enjoyed every episode! Great interviews and insider observations.
