In today’s episode of #FixTheForms, @peterkwells.com muses on one of the weirder manifestations of current “signing ceremonies” Note to self: must get “signatures and signing ceremonies” further up the list of posts to prune and tune. On the whole, it’s still ok. The problem is …

I really love a traditional village show and this thread is a very fine selection of many of the best elements. Extra points for the obscure class in the competition where there’s only one entry but the entry does not get first prize. (My grandad used to grow prize onions and chrysanthemums).

It's the last weekend in July, and that means only one thing... Shall we go to the village show?

Update on today's #FixTheForms I checked the Companies House Register I'm a verified Person with Significant Control. I'm there TWICE as an Officer of the company and only ONE of those is verified. I don't know whether that makes me 1 in 5 million Good or a Naughty. #GivenUp

This is a great, thoughtful, long read from @bm.wel.by about the location of “digital” in UK government. (I’m still of the view that minsters think that they “did digital” in the 2010s and that if they now consider it at all then it’s as historic)

By popular* demand I have added my many words to all the other bits and pieces reflecting on the end of DSIT. *@semanthicc.bsky.social and one other said they were waiting to hear my take.

As many of us wonder what’s happening with what used to be GDS, the “they forgot it existed” explanation is the most plausible one for me. Ministers now focus on “give lots of money to AI techbros”. “Digital” has the same level of attention as basket weaving - nice but historic. #GovDesign

I beg readers not to try and work out why parts of government are being moved between departments. THERE ARE NO LOGICAL REASONS! DECC was made part of BEIS simply because May forgot it existed.
