I just want to know what the vendor’s performance evaluation in CPARS is going to look like.

Juicebox Jeanine files a 20-page Motion to Dismiss the case against Davey Hearn that ... claims to have been helpless before DOI told them how Trump's incompetence ruined the pool. Not sure when I've seen this Olympic class ass-covering before. legacy.www.documentcloud.org/documents/28...

This is one of the most frustrating parts of public service to me. The public servants who respond to bad days know what made them bad & the fact that administrations push the bad days aside for political reasons hurts us all.

Nicholas Grossman

The initial response to COVID-19 is similar to the withdrawal from Afghanistan, in that the crisis management was far from perfect and a serious after-action analysis would highlight valuable lessons learned, but any effort to do so is dwarfed by conspiracy theorists and liars trying to exploit it.

Surprise! (But in all seriousness, if this is happening to other tech firms - gov is gonna need to do some serious thinking about how to mitigate - a job that’s made harder by DOGE cuts at CISA)

Arabella Crawford & I have a paper for @searchlightinst.bsky.social's Tech Viaduct on the need to harmonize definitions for programs. When words like income & homelessness change depending on the program - it makes improving the safety net difficult. www.searchlightinstitute.org/research/sta...

Half of me is like “Why isn’t there a clause in these contracts defining how to wind down the contract?” On the other hand, why the hell is this an issue in the first place?

There's....a lot to dig into here.... but my biggest thing right now is that Congress should bring back the Office of Technology Assessment *specifically* so that they have their own staff doing their own research on issues like these rather than just relying on industry.

Andrew Couts

if only there were a movie, perhaps even a series of movies, that could inform us about how this might eventually play out

I have a piece in @liberalcurrents.com this morning about bureaucracy hacking - the art of reducing friction in bureaucratic processes *while still addressing the risk the regulations were intended to mitigate* That last bit is the part DOGE didn’t get. www.liberalcurrents.com/making-gover...

There’s video being released of the latest ICE shooting - a reminder you don’t have to have autoplay on and you don’t need to see it to remain outraged

ICE can not be reformed, only destroyed

Matt Novak

“The motorist killed by ICE officers in a Maine shooting Monday was not the target of the warrant the officers were executing, Sen. Angus King said Homeland Security Secretary Mullin told him.”
