While I hope Bluesky finds a way to attract a broader variety of users, I fear they will end up doing what many others did - start chasing the chuds and end up driving away the normies. Let's be realistic - Bluesky's main challenge is that it's a TEXT PLATFORM in the year 2026! Super niche.
The VergeBluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
I don't buy lots of *new* books, but when I do it's usually something by a person I follow online. What I'm saying is I got a couple of new books in the mail from authors who are on here and excited to find out if their book writing is as good as their poasting.
What, non-European countries can also be imperialist? Unpossible!
ChrononautThe crises in Ceuta were not caused by Spanish ownership of the city. They were caused by Morocco and Algeria fighting for control of Western Sahara and each one trying to secure Spain's support. Morocco and Algeria are the imperialists in this story, but tankies and cosplay leftists don't care.
Despite centuries of imperial/colonial history, today Spain is among the most progressive countries in the world: on immigration, social policy, gender equality, workers' rights, LGBT rights, supporting Palestine and Ukraine, etc Yet people from countries ruled by fascist regimes keep slandering it
ChrononautWestern leftists talking on behalf of the *Spanish* citizens of Ceuta and Melilla is such typical colonialist mentality. Pure White Man's Burden stuff. Instead, they could ask themselves why it's Moroccans who are desperately trying to get into Ceuta, and not ceutíes trying to move to Morocco.

Vibecession ForeverThe beginning of the end for the far left in the UK was when they not only refused to confront the rampant antisemitism that grew in the movement, but also gaslit everyone else by pretending it didn’t exist. The far left here is committed to re-running that playbook, and I cannot understand why.
As of 2028 Barcelona is banning Airbnb and other short-term renting schemes, which should put 10'000 residential properties back on the market. But we need more, much more in order to bring down the obscene housing prices in the city. The only way to achieve it is by building lots of new housing.

So Truman was a socialist?
Hassett: "After World War 2, bc we had centralized production to defeat the Nazis, there were a whole bunch of socialists in the UK and US that wanted to take over the economy bc they said, 'Look, we've already centralized production, so let's just be socialist.' That's why the CEA was created ... "
