Hello! For a potential piece on Eurogamer, I would love to know what cool little things people in and around games are working on. Not full games, but fun, interesting, weird projects or side projects. Things you're noodling around with, things you just think are neat. Replies/reposts very welcome!

I spotted these videos recently and one of the things that stood out - aside from the backwards plane - was how blandly thirsty they are. Here's greased-up Jason with an 8-pack. Several Lucia ones are, well, what you'd expect.

Sincerely one of the funniest threads I've ever encountered on this site or the other one

Dusty McDustin

Hahah I don’t “think” it is, its just is dude. A 75 has always been by definition average and always will be??! wtf are talking about?? Hahah seriously wtf due, were you failing out of school thinking you were getting average grades or something??

Feels somewhat appropriate that this post has immediately devolved into defensive threads about whether gamers are or aren’t the most sensitive fans, rather than engaging with the real discussion at hand. (Plus he says “almost”! It’s right there!!)

“People who are interested in games have too much of their identities bound up with their interest in games compared to almost anything else that I’ve encountered.” Ian Bogost talks about his approach to critiquing games AND how he has become more mindful of life's small pleasures.

Big news! @apzonerunner.com and I have launched a new video games website. @respec.net is our attempt to create a highly curated multi-format site that has that club feel you used to get from the best magazines (and frankly, my beloved VideoGamer back in the day) www.respec.net/feature/87-w...

Have been reminded it’s 10 years since I joined Eurogamer today. Appreciate it’s America’s birthday or whatever but do feel they’re stealing the limelight a bit.

Had the odd comment mentioning “sentimentality” in the Sony piece and listen: sentimentality is the point. Part of this is just about the fact we’re losing one of the final touchpoints of another world. It’s right to want to rage against that.

My parents were low income so I often just browsed game shops as a kid. Sometimes mum let me get a game. It'd cost her whole day's wage and a chunk of our rent. Dad once told me to check under the car seat and Pokemon Red was there in a bag. Ownership isn't the only thing we lose with physical media

When I half-jokingly referenced the "Microsoft kills game ownership" article a few weeks back, I didn't expect to actually have to re-write it. But here we go. Sony takes the disc.

Eurogamer

Of all the many losses from this shocking decision, maybe the biggest is a sense of connection with what you love. A tangible, touchable, graspable thing that links you to all the people who made it. Opinion: Sony kills game ownership and says it's all your fault. www.eurogamer.net/sony-kills-g...

Way too many serious art house reccs here when the obvious answer is either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or one of those fake idle games that’s secretly using your computer to mine crypto

What is the definitive game about America?

Didn't mention this at the time but something darkly funny about getting on my high horse about digial media ownership and then barely 2 days later this story breaking

PlayStation is pulling "previously purchased" digital movies from users' libraries without so much as an apologySony has written to customers to advise that hundreds of "previously purchased" digital movies previously available via its online store will "be removed".www.eurogamer.net

It's Pride Week on Eurogamer! Here's our first feature from the wonderful @stormscribe.bsky.social on Tiny Bookshop, and how even silenced voices will eventually be heard.

Would be very keen for us to get a genuine idea of what's happened at Bungie, and understand what that's been like to go through as a developer. I would imagine: not great! Also imagine there are nuances that deserve to be unpicked properly. Connor has handled similar stories with excellent care:

Connor Makar

If you are a Bungie dev laid off as part of these cuts, or a former / remaining dev who wants to talk, you can contact me on Signal at ConnorMakar.62 I would love to get an accurate picture of how this all went wrong.

Whole situation is baffling. Why, almost 9 years after Destiny 2's launch, are the next projects so far away in "early incubation" as to not be able to roll the Destiny 2 team onto them for full production? Why have they not been brought forward, with Destiny 2 "short of expectations" for years?

I’m a sucker so I get authentically excited whenever Rockstar releases a load of GTA screens, but there is a much bigger conversation we need to start having immediately of the back of its code-in-box plans. Players deserve to own the digital games they buy. www.eurogamer.net/gta-6-exciti...

Few things have got me excited like Rockstar's latest GTA 6 screenshots, but this time something big's taking off the sheen - and we need to talk about it, fastFears about game ownership are back with a vengeance, and rightly so after the news Rockstar and 2K won't include a disc in the "physical edition" box.www.eurogamer.net

would very much like to not have any more "drop everything and write about this massive industry moment" moments for the rest of this week, the week of Mercury's ire, the week of volcanic fucking rage, the week of face blowtorch, the week of being forwards and ultimtely inside of the Sun, the week o

Having Victoria on the team at Eurogamer has been like having a personal ray of sunshine you get to have beamed directly at you each working day. She's been an absolute joy to work with, everybody's favourite person, and I sincerely wish her well for whatever comes next.

Victoria Phillips Kennedy

After four incredible years, today is my last day at Eurogamer. It has been an absolute joy and privilege to be even a small part of such an incredible team for so long. However, I have decided it is time for something new.

An absolute delight to get Chris back on Eurogamer here:

Reviewed Star Fox for Eurogamer. It's good! Largely because the original was, and it's basically the same game with nicer graphics. But enough evidence here to suggest Velan should get an opportunity to make an *actual* new entry. www.eurogamer.net/star-fox-rev...
