There was something on actual teletext, not sure about mode 7, being able to make the blank character the same as the one preceding it to mask the limitation but not sure exactly what that was

Mode 7 is brilliant for anything text or sixel based. Only thing I dislike about it is you can't have two different coloured characters right next to each other because the control code appears as a blank space :(

I guess it didn't make the "cost reduced" cut, but for a small memory machine mode 7 is fantastic
