Eugene, Oregon has some pretty good bike infrastructure, pretty, pretty good.

I can find 74 drivers on their phones in one 30 minute bike commute dressing like a normal person.

The War on Cars

Catching 74 distracted drivers in six hours is good, but what would be better is redesigning the street so drivers are forced to pay attention.

We took the kids to Manhattan Beach and Dockweiler yesterday. There were so many teens out on e-bikes, not emotos, just pedal assist e-bikes. There such a huge moral panic over these. It mostly about teens just be out and about. These things are freedom machines!

I've had drivers rage at me for just make the signal for "put your phone down". Oh! I once had a woman swerve her car at me as rode by and I asked why and she said it was because I gave her a dirty look. (I gave her a confused look when she went straight with her signal on).

A really fun calculation you get to make as a cyclist or pedestrian is, "Will this driver attempt to kill me if I flip them off for nearly hitting me?"

Pretty much

Traci Park is really leaning into the Nextdoor vote.

I have a story like this. I was coming home just after 9pm in the Fig bike lane pass Crypto. I pass a guy on a skateboard. I ask if he wants a lift. He grabs onto the GSD monkey bars and I towed him for a few blocks. He told me about how he was studying to be a chef and worked in a kitchen. 1/

There's so much to like in this video, but one thing that stood out to me is when she says New York is ten years ahead of the curve. Yup. This is exactly why transportation advocates all over the country are so invested in NYC doing congestion pricing or car free streets or great bike lanes.

The interview is fantastic. She really gets it. youtu.be/s1-jM1SuZR0?...

AOC is one of us. She's a cargo bike Congress woman! The Streetsblog interview is so good. This is the highest level of government The War on Cars has infiltrated. (It will be higher when she's President)

Horvath, who pushed for this funding, says board asked for an abbreviated grant cycle with at least $1M so there wasn't an 18-month gap between World Cup and Olympics. Horvath says Metro board funded various stuff today - including freeway expansion - but couldn't find $ for open streets.

This is a cool project. Thanks state laws (and all who help get them passed)!

The development will add townhouses behind an existing 120 year old building. The second lot on the lower right side is vacant, the house in front would be new construction to match the neighborhood.

Let's play "Why won't those cyclists use the bike lanes?" It's hard to spot, but see if you can find out why I'm not in the bike lane.

Is their product more regulated than apartments in cities? They are literally illegally to build in 72% of Los Angeles. That's pretty regulated!

I love threads. It's like a combo instagram/nextdoor. For example, this woman wants to sue CicLAvia because she had to wait in a car a little longer than normal.

One thing I was marveling throughout our ride at CicLAvia today was how quiet it was. I could just ride next to my son and chat. Listen to this. This is usually filled with loud, polluting, honking cars. Cities aren't loud, cars are loud. Remove the cars and it's so human.

How does 50% pencil in NYC but in SF 3% can't pencil? 50% is crazy!

I would love to upgrade my @hellgatenyc.com subscription tier just as soon as they stop publishing NIMBY trash like this. I really like them on most things! It's a shame they're aggressively wrong on the biggest problem facing NYC. hellgatenyc.com/monitor-poin...
