I can easily go six months or so without reading a book, which is not something I’m proud of. But that @rodger.bsky.social book recommendation plea thread set me going and now I’m on my 3rd book in 2 weeks: Loving it so far (but I’m right at the end of the 1st act).

Still thinking about Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar several days later, which obviously is a testament to how strong it is. It is beautifully written and has no shortage of wonderful observations. But … (mild spoilers ahead)…

You can say what you want about what MLB teams could/should do, but no other league here has a team like the Dodgers. For the better for the fans of those leagues. I don’t really care about the why. Curious to see where baseball goes from here.

“Prioritize Motor Vehicle Travel Over Bicycle Lanes” These people are just absolute cartoon villains. Weird how so many of their policy positions can be predicted by simply asking: what would the oil & gas companies want?
