It's extremely sad. I grew up obsessed by NASA and in awe of it's achievements. My dislike for those Billionaires, and an administrations lack of interest in Science, really taints it all, as well as stifling some brilliant peoples work.

Samarkand-2028 and Lampung-1 are hyperspectral Earth observation satellites. They capture data across hundreds of light wavelengths, enabling detailed monitoring of agriculture, forests, water resources, mineral exploration, and environmental change from orbit. 🌍🛰️

Early detection is key i feel. A plasma (ion) engine or even a solar sail could work if a hazardous asteroid is found years or decades in advance. A tiny continuous push can gradually shift its orbit enough to miss Earth. The earlier it's detected, the smaller the deflection needed.

The experiment lasted about 8 Earth days. A cotton seed successfully germinated, becoming the first plant ever to sprout on the Moon. It ended when the lunar night began, with temperatures near -170°C freezing the unheated biosphere and its contents.

Cotton was chosen because it germinates quickly and reliably, is a well-studied plant so scientists could easily measure its response to lunar conditions, and has potential practical uses for future Moon bases (e.g. producing fibre). It was an ideal test crop.

It's a good point yes. But, many lunar rocks were melted by meteorite impacts (or ancient volcanism), so they cooled into rounded shapes. Billions of years of micrometeorite impacts and extreme temperature cycles also slowly blunt exposed edges, even without wind or water.

So true. On an earlier unmanned Chang'e lunar lander mission, they also successfully germinated cotton plants during a brief experiment conducted onboard while the probe was on the Moon's surface.

After driving southwest from the Chang'e-3 lander, Yutu captured the six-image mosaic of the massive boulder Long Yan in Mare Imbrium while investigating ancient impact ejecta, revealing the Moon's surface in remarkable detail.

If you are seriously in to it, Astronomy Societies often look for speakers. You could always put together a presentation on Chinese Space Exploration. This could be a doorway in to some type of public outreach role in some space related organisation. From there, who knows!

The academic route is one of the best pathways in to any Jobs in China. Study aerospace engineering, planetary science, robotics, AI, physics, or related fields, then pursue a Master's or PhD with international research links. Mandarin skills and specialist expertise can open doors too.
