They locked their doors expecting to return in a few weeks. More than 80 years later, the village of Tyneham still stands empty. #Genealogy #Dorset #FamilyHistory #History #Village chiddicksfamilytree.com/2026/07/16/t...

I really enjoy these sessions, as well as a friendly chat with other members you also pick up little hints and tips for your own research.
Jane Hough 🌳🧬🏡So lovely to have an informal #FamilyHistory chit-chat with @fhsofcheshire.bsky.social this evening. I really enjoy all the talks, but it’s also fun to have a different format. Tonight’s theme was weddings, and we covered gifts, outfits, hastily rearranged ceremonies and more besides.

🎤 Help shape the Family Tree Live lecture programme! We're busy planning the talks for Family Tree Live 2027, and we'd love your ideas. If you could choose one family history topic to hear an expert speak about, what would it be? https://f.mtr.cool/kaffvhchev #familytreelive

This is fascinating. Reading elsewhere online, I learned that the last surviving former resident visited in 2024, the year before he passed away at age 100.

Since reading @chiddickstree.bsky.social's article on the village of Tyneham, lost villages have been on my mind and in my news feed. This example was due to coastal erosion at Easton Bavents in #Suffolk. #LostVillages #CoastalErosion #OnePlaceStudies bbc.com/news/article...
