Former influencer. Principle of Charity. This isn’t a good venue for argumentation. Not the time for doomism. S—-lib, normie, v cringey. And you can believe me, because I never lie. And I’m always right.

This is the revenge tour for the people of Maine

Amy Fried

According to this, Susan Collins "has appeared to hold grudges against people who criticized her vote" for Kavanaugh. Oh, really? And what about us? I think we can/should hold a grudge against her for that! #mepolitics www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/u...

Did Emily Wilson comment on how damn *loud* Nolan’s Odyssey was? Things can’t have been that loud back then. Just impossible

Your video game references: I understand none of them. None. I’m happy for u tho

It’s important to remember that many, many people literally chose death rather than admit that folks like Dr. Fauci were right. Denial, a form of pride, is extremely powerful. More powerful than the threat of death itself.

Gabrielle A. Perry, MPH

My unvaccinated brother died of COVID in 2021. I was about a year and a half into my epidemiology career. Healthcare staff did absolutely everything they could but they cannot cure ignorance. They cannot cure an anti-science belief and culture. Thats YOUR responsibility. Not Dr. Fauci’s.

I remember! And the media coverage was completely hysterical and exactly as bad as described. Media asymmetry is an old problem now and we certainly are no closer to fixing it

Remembering how the "Ebola Crisis" was literally *the* most covered news story - consistently framed as though it was a huge embarrassment to Obama - before the 2014 midterms (after which the media totally abandoned the story)

Gonna say the last Republican war was a pretty enormous fuck-up too. Stiff competition among liars, fools, and crooks

George Conway ⚖️🇺🇸

We are watching, in real time, the biggest fuck-up by any president in the history of the United States of America.

Always thought Boston could be more like Paris

Brent Toderian

“The city’s transition away from the car, tho fantastically chaotic, has become a global role model. Under mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social, Paris was ‘the most influential city in the world’ says Canadian urbanist Brent Toderian. Hidalgo, stepping down after 12 yrs, exulted: ‘The bike beat the car.’”

Also less likely that excellent folks like Louisa Gag get killed going to work. It’s obvious. Always has been.

Brent Toderian

“According to the finance ministry’s calculations, the cost to society of trips by car is close to one euro/km. On the other hand, every km travelled by bike yields societal gains of 60 euro cents thanks to the health benefits of cycling, transport efficiency gains, & lower infrastructure spending.”

Changing diets — for whatever reason — is really really hard. Currently the only way to make your animal products less CO2 intensive… is to make them more rare in your diet. Surprisingly, agribusiness is probably more CO2 efficient than boutique organic producers. Thread 👇

George Monbiot

But it seems to me that most people, when it comes to food, begin with what they want to believe - my diet is right and ethical - and look for evidence to support it. I understand this: it's literally a visceral issue. But we have to try to get beyond what we want to believe, hard as that is.

Matthew 6:5ff “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men”

Right Wing Watch

Rep. Lauren Boebert insists that public Christian worship events are necessary for America to experience revival: "I don't think that Jesus ever called for any Christian to pray only silently or to keep their faith hidden only in the prayer closet."

Just gonna speak up for New Hampshire here. I’ve been up there canvassing any number of times, and it’s really a terrific civic culture. The folks there are used to being carpeted with primary ads and canvassers, and they take their role and duty as an early primary state seriously and gracefully.

Dante Atkins

9/x the DNC early state calendar now features New Hampshire, Michigan, New Mexico, and Virginia: a diversity of heavily Latino states, heavy union density states, white working class states, AAPI communities, and even highly educated liberals. It's six states representing the whole Dem coalition.

cc Boston, Joan Vennochi, Charles Street businesses, etc It’s slow until it’s all at once

Alistair Davidson

The most militant driver I know got an e-bike because of the lack of parking in the west end :) Voi bikes + oil crisis + a few weeks of sun have flipped the script in Glasgow. It's been a while since I heard that "nobody uses" the cycle lanes, which used to be a drumbeat.

Would add: *Demonizing* certain politicians is also nutty, considering the below —but more importantly, what their constituents and primary voters are telling them to do

mtsw

Getting attached to individual politicians as people is kinda batshit behavior even under the best of circumstances but it's especially insane in The United States where there's an enormous amount of randomness and path dependency in terms of who gets into these high level elected offices.
