To preserve privacy in the digital age, high tech government surveillance tools — like reverse warrants — must be reined in. The Supreme Court recently issued a ruling to help protect our privacy, now our lawmakers must finish the job.

The public is catching on to Flock's surveillance scheme — and successfully fighting back against the company's efforts to expand its network of creepy cameras even more. Flock can't stop the power of the people.
Excellent coverage of mass surveillance using license plate readers by @democracynow.org, with great commentary by @chadmarlow.bsky.social and appearances by @bennjordan.bsky.social and DeflockSLO. Definitely worth 11 minutes of your time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaro...

Flock regularly misleads the public about their business practices, safety record, and commitment to privacy. They've even lied about partnering with the ACLU — which we'd never do. Government officials and the police shouldn't automatically trust what surveillance tech companies tell them.
"In these incredibly divisive political times, we’re actually seeing the rare issue that unites Americans: opposition to government #surveillance. And I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I think this movement is only going to grow." - @chadmarlow.bsky.social #deflock #alpr
BREAKING: The Supreme Court just ruled that the Fourth Amendment applies to police use of overbroad "geofence warrants" to search for and locate unknown numbers of people in a large geographical area. This win reinforces that we don't lose our right to privacy simply because we use a cell phone.
"I've been doing this work for 12 years, and I have never seen a stronger anti-surveillance environment amongst the public in the United States than I see right now." - @chadmarlow.bsky.social (Senior Policy Counsel, ACLU) #surveillance #privacy #4a #SOS

We all deserve the ability to go about our daily lives without being tracked or surveilled by the government. That's why lawmakers need to act now and pass common-sense protections to defend our privacy.
The time is now to fight the surveillance state. Join our Solidarity Over Surveillance webinar next Wed, June 3 w/ experts @eltragon.bsky.social of @lataco.bsky.social, @safiyanoble.bsky.social, @chadmarlow.bsky.social of @aclu.org, & @attorneynora.bsky.social Details here: bit.ly/fpsossocial
