I hear all of your concerns and being honest they weren’t ones that surfaced for me. In my imagining the same fiduciary responsibility would hold, there would be an additional responsibility to balance that against the long term health of the business. Stakeholders would be added not replacing.

Are there not already those pressures on businesses? The business would still have a board that has a fiduciary duty, it would just extend beyond shareholders who are only concerned with quarterly numbers to other parties.

This is the closest description I’ve found to my set of beliefs. I believe that if businesses wish to seek out external investment they should be required to form a board of stakeholders rather than shareholders. Employees, community members, investors, and owners.
