With wildfire smoke covering the Seattle area last evening, I stopped at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park to photograph the sunset. The smoke is never welcome, but it softened the scene and created a striking red-orange glow across Lake Washington. It was an unusual moment to witness. #pnw

Sunset glow over Puget Sound I drove out to Alki Beach in Seattle yesterday hoping to catch the sunset. Clouds and fog hid most of it, but this Washington State ferry crossed just as rain lit up beneath the storm clouds Would you rather ride the ferry on a moody day like this or under sunny skies?

I arrived early yesterday morning, hoping for a clear view of Mount Rainier while Tipsoo Lake was still calm. I was not disappointed. Seeing the alpenglow on Mount Rainier reflected in the lake was absolutely beautiful. I felt peaceful, excited, and incredibly lucky to witness it. #PNWPhotography

What first caught my eye was the way the evening light illuminated the left side of the ridge. From there, my eyes moved across the distant valleys and layered mountain ranges, each one fading farther into the horizon. That depth made the view feel expansive, and I really enjoyed taking it all in.
