Over 100mm of rain to fall between now and Monday afternoon, but out in the Atlantic. Latest high resolution model shows very little rain away from West. Farmers wait for rain in Southeast continues.

A low of 4.8c at my station this morning with a nice fresh Friday morning for many but some showers in Northern areas. Mix of cloud and sunny spells for most today. Latest high resolution weather model chart shows very little rain up to 4pm Sunday.

The ECMWF ensembles continue to show very little rainfall for Southeast. Some showers likely but amounts look pretty low, not good for the land.

This low for the weekend continues to cause a headache for weather models making it very difficult to forecast the weekend details at present. You will see rainfall totals on forecast apps and sites chop and change a lot!

Rather warm and humid with sunny spells away from West and North. Just 16c at Belmullet and 9.2mm of rain but up to 26c in Meath and some good sunny spells.

While most areas had less than 1mm today, Belmullet on the West coast had 16.8mm or maybe some Mayo supporters spilled their pints😁

Up to 25c Tuesday in some sunny spells in Midlands and East but cooler airmass moves down from Wednesday. However still feeling warm in good sunny spells Thursday and Friday. At present that low pressure system looks more likely to stay away until at least Monday but details uncertain.

The weather models continue to struggle with how to handle a low system for the weekend making any forecast for the bank holiday unreliable at present. There is a risk of high levels of rainfall in the West.

High resolution charts show very little rain up to early Wednesday morning for most. It cannot be stressed enough, do not start any fires and take extreme caution with any flames, cigarettes or BBQ etc.

Seamus shares a photo of smoke coming from the Comeragh mountains as ATN festival takes shape in the foreground. A number of fires have been started on the Comeragh mountains this afternoon. Not much rain is forecast for Southeast for next 5 days.

A breezy start with showers for some areas and temps struggle to get above 20c in most areas today however temps back above 20c Tuesday and Wednesday before dropping. Animation shows upper air temps forecast and you can see that heat pulsing back into Spain and France again this coming week.
