This is very helpful. I make a meal a week for my frail, elderly neighbours. They eat anything. I wing it with whatever's on sale. They're not fussy, but I'll try to make more vintage recipes for them and search for those ingredients on sale. I have old church cookbooks.

Not affordable. That's 73% of the max ODSP and more than 50% of a min wage/40 hr a week pay.

Most Ontario homes/apts are under rent control. Only new builds aren't. The old rent controlled one's rents aren't keeping place with rising costs. They become run-down due to poor upkeep. When a tenant moves out, it's renovated to earn more. This is how investors earn a profit.

The rental housing supply being ONLY provided by landlords/developers is the problem. We need PUBLIC, not-for-profit housing.

'Affordable' is defined now by CMHC and municipalities as 30% below market. A studio across the street from me is $1725 plus. 30% less than that is NOT affordable. 2 BR, $2580 +. Parking and all utilities extra.
