NEW: NWS has confirmed a 5th tornado that struck Maryland Tuesday, and the 3rd in Anne Arundel County. This additional tornado occurred in the Riviera Beach area, about 15 miles north of Annapolis. It was rated EF0. The 5 tornadoes all struck within 14 minutes.

CRAZY microburst winds in northwest DC toppled trees, wires. The area from Van Ness to Cathedral Heights in NW DC was ROCKED by Tuesday's storms with many trees down, some onto cars. Chairs were blown off a roof. This video from Ari Neugeboren in NW DC resembles a hurricane.

5:51 pm: Incoming for the Beltway and DC. Storms north and northwest have intensified and are targeting the immediate area. New warning until 6:15 pm. Torrential rain, gusty wind, and even a brief tornado possible with the strongest activity. More at the Capital Weather app.
