yeah i mean i think many people would say that OpenAI is responsible for it, even if they didn't explicitly say "go hack hugging face", because of how they've chosen to train and set up these models. I think we should find out why exactly they say they were surprised by this

uh just to be clear: even if OpenAI's claims bear out that it was autonomous, I don't think that makes them clear from liability. I imagine that's something politicians/regulators will be looking at very closely

i mean maybe yeah (we'll find out more) but even in the most cynical interpretation, i feel like "AI that breaks containment and successfully hacks other AI company" is still new and bad lol

i know there's a lot of AI hype, and a lot of areas where it still is not as good as some might claim, but when it comes to doing "computer things" (like hacking) it makes sense that it's probably pretty good at it. and, perhaps unfortunately, a lot of our systems are vulnerable to "computer things"

Looks like major AI companies are continuing to gear up to make Australia a major hub: Anthropic has listed a Data Center (sic) Energy Lead, Australia to "secure multi-hundred megawatt power capacity" at the "speed and scale required for frontier AI development."
