As an American in the South who has seen uncountable numbers of ceiling fans, I've NEVER heard of one falling off, if that helps. But I get irrational fears. I have to keep the shower curtain open unless I'm in there because that's where the axe murderer hides.

I went to a VERY progressive elementary school in the mid-70s and one exercise we had to do was pick out the parts of speech while our teacher played us that song. So one time through it was nouns, the next verbs and so on.

"Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty takes me back to the comic shop before the campus alternative radio station started, while "Sunny Came Home" (years later) is from the weird singer-songwriter mix they played all the time at the fabric store.

Too much NoDoz will give you chest pains. Who knew?

In high school English I read the first chapter of The Red Badge of Courage and refused to go any further. The first half of the final exam turned out to be entirely devoted to it, but by good guessing and creative BS (and acing the rest of the test) I managed to get a B+ on it.
