Okay, but as governor he is duty bound to his sworn oath to uphold the law. You challenge the law and when(if) it is overturned, THEN & ONLY THEN do you appoint someone to an open seat. Remember there is NO open seat! Hospitalization is not a resignation. If he doesn't want to resign, he stays.

They wouldn't NEED to sue him. They would impeach and convict him, and it would not be possible to get that person seated. Don't bother advertising MAGA garbage. THERE IS NO EMPTY SEAT. Get that through. Only MAGA thinks otherwise.

Beshear is too honorable a person to ignore the law.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. All that would do is get Beshear impeached and convicted and the appointee would never be seated, rightfully so. Someone with standing needs to file a litigation against the law and at the very least get an injunction which could allow him to appoint someone.

Umm... The law wasn't in place on day 1 of his term. They only enacted it when it became apparent that Beshear might get a replacement appointment. Plus there has to be standing, and while I'm not a lawyer, I don't believe you can have standing on the possibility that the law MIGHT come into play.

Exactly. There’s no Senate vacancy unless a Senator resigns, is expelled, or dies. Disability, by itself, is irrelevant. The Senate will not seat a replacement unless one of those things is shown to have occurred.

You're absolutely right. They DO deserve to know. But that has to come from the legislature, not the governor simply giving a raspberry to Kentucky law.

This person would never be seated in the Senate. It would be the Democrats, not the GOP that would fight it and until the law was struck down the Senate can not seat him.

It isn't Democrats that are attacking him. Like all conspiracy theories, MAGA is the only ones wanting McConnell to be dead. Incidentally it wasn't McConnell. The Kentucky legislature did this.
