On the one hand, Miller’s ex-wife claims he is "a violent man" who held a gun to her head, scalded her by throwing hot water on her body + fractured their 2-year-old's collarbone. On the other hand, Miller says he'll help launch a House probe into himself. www.huffpost.com/entry/live-u...

I have been called an alarmist and worse by well meaning people who want to think it will just all be ok. The truth is it doesn't always end up ok and we can't pretend it will. Donald Trump is targeting Black voters and women to rig this election. We need to stand up, call it out and take action.
We’re starving millions of Americans so musk and bezos can get tax cuts and trump can collect bribes www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...
Trump announced yesterday he will repurpose huge chunks of federal lands to host AI data centers. This massive giveaway to Big Tech comes despite surging public opposition to data centers— including among Trump's own voters.
One thing the Mamdani campaign impressed upon every politician in the country is that people are *pissed* about affordability and they will support anyone who stands up for the public against AI-equipped price gougers. 22/
I thought up that example. I don't know if it's really happening. But here's something that really *is* happening: ecommerce sites charge parents of newborns extra when they order thermometers in the middle of the night. 14/
Congress hasn't updated federal consumer privacy law since 1988 (when they passed a law banning the disclosure of VHS rentals), so pretty much any form of consumer surveillance is fair game. This is where the AI comes in. 4/
As the name suggests, "surveillance pricing" is the practice of charging every customer a different price for every transaction, based on the massive surveillance dossiers that Big Tech companies and data-brokers have assembled on everyone in the world. 3/

Reiterating that Musk's literal voter bribery last time was an unambiguous go-directly-to-jail felony, for which people have been successfully prosecuted over vastly smaller amounts. It wasn't just pouring money into a PAC, whatever one thinks of that. It was a black-letter plain-as-day crime.
Musk got away with his $1 million vote-buying scheme in 2024. Why wouldn't he try something similar this November?
This would have been an obvious point to point out that they were all convicted, and most were detained bc they assaulted cops. Ah well.
Here's one of the first moments of grotesque dishonesty. Bill Barr CONTINUED the object of impeachment, framing Hunter and Joe Biden, while it was going on. Trump turned on Barr, but not for another year. And hiding that hides his first term abuse.
This is the first passage of Maggie and Swan's book. Consider the agency it sets up. Democrats. Partisanship. Why not focus on the "irony" that Maggie had done propaganda for the man for years? Why make this about Democrats, rather than her complicity?
ICE detains Hopkins public health researcher as agency expands airport arrests
The Trump administration has gone months without paying attorneys who represent unaccompanied immigrant children as part of a years-old, congressionally-funded effort. The latest in a series of temporary bridge contracts ends tomorrow, with no replacement in sight: www.huffpost.com/entry/unacco...
But while Sister Letty is now free from ICE detention, her ordeal is not over. Her attorney said federal immigration officials indicated “they are pushing to have Ugboaja deported to a third country, not her native Nigeria.” “Which is very concerning for us,” he said.
Gabe OrtízSister Letty, the South Texas Catholic nun who was abducted by ICE last month, said she feels she must speak out because there are too many others going through the same situation without the same kind of headlines that her outrageous case has received: americasvoicecnn.substack.com/p/catholic-n...
Now Elon Musk is getting into the “let me tell you about my Indian partner and make it as weird as possible” game. Why do Musk and Vance keep invoking their Indian wives and partners while promoting rhetoric about immigration and white identity being threatened? I asked ethnic studies professors.
