This is a great video summarizing the impact of the Health and Retirement Study at the University of Michigan. I'm really fortunate that I can talk about the methods that HRS uses on a daily basis. Check it out! research.umich.edu/news-and-iss...
We are thrilled to have @vincentab.bsky.social back on campus for today’s PDHP workshop on interpreting statistical models in R. Please visit pdhp.isr.umich.edu for more details on this workshop and other upcoming events!
An excellent (and correct) opinion piece on the latest chaos with attacks on science. Read and absorb. Then act. www.science.org/content/blog...
TIL! I’m now going to use “Yatesian practice” in my reviews…😂
American Statistical Association History of StatisticsFew statisticians know that Frank Yates, pioneer of experimental design, is responsible for the annoying practice of indicating 3 tiers of statistical significance by stars (*p ≤ 0.05, **p ≤0.01, ***p ≤ 0.001). He soon regretted it and “vehemently opposed its unthinking use”. And here we are.
This should be a fantastic workshop, and it is free to all!
Vincent Arel-BundockI'll be in Ann Arbor next week to talk about `marginaleffects` and how to interpret statistical models. Let me know if you're around! pdhp.isr.umich.edu/workshops/ #RStats #PyData
You simply cannot hit a ball any better than this. Goodness.
CJ FoglerLawd, the replays of the Lopes Cabral goal 🤌🏼
Read this thread, and…grab a whiskey, I guess? 🙄
Max KozlovNIH grants have been under political scrutiny since early 2025. But what does the screening process actually look like? What is being flagged? I spent a month digging into leaked docs and emails. We've published the 235-word list that are being flagged by an internal AI tool. And so much more. 🧵
Thank you again to the Office of the Vice President for Research at Michigan for this generous recognition! This says a bit more about the award (and why my hair is turning gray!!!). ☺️ record.umich.edu/articles/ovp...
