The way the anime insisted on the bride visual motif finishing the joseph arc did not help even if it was a way of "ending" the story with the production circumstances (getting anything past S1 was kind of a miracle lol)

Even if it fell off, the first season is still one of the best anime from the 2010's, it's sad that it's so horrifically dificult to recommend with the elephant in the room. Main criticism to the story is how long it takes to get to get a meaningful read out of Elias's way of seeing human relations.
I first watched the series back in 2019 and caught up with most of the manga up to that point shortly after, I was 16 and technically the target audience. Doing the rewatch rn and it still got me the same way and even harder now that I have a better grasp on the characters and main dynamic fuuck
