Can't imagine a worse use of time than requiring me to track down the month of all 130 or so presentations I've given in my career to put on a CV for T&P. Who are the people parsing what month these things happened in? Who hurt them? Do they need their mommy?

Incredibly, this is *not* the first time Bader has been in the news for running a scooter into a parked truck. www.gainesville.com/story/sports...
So, Harrison Bader having a “scooter accident” with an already injured foot easily met the clown threshold, the details make it a five ring circus.
It’s almost like refusing to recognize everyone’s actual favorite players from this 20 year period because “Steroids Bad” means nobody will care about what you’re up to.

Hard to know what this means for peak. But top guys currently pitching into their 40s (Scherzer, Verlander) have lost only 1 or 2 ticks from their peak. Kershaw down more than 5 ticks by 37. So let's say Randy lost 5 full mph by 2008. Then his peak was still ~4 mph slower than 2026 Misiorowski.
Mike PetrielloOne of the fun things about a handful of 80s/90s star pitchers throwing so long is that we do actually have data from start of pitch tracking era in 2008, so on the same scale as Statcast. 2008 fastball velo. Obv they were in their 40s here, so not at peak. baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_sea...
Anyone have access to this book real quick? I have a chapter in it and need the page numbers specific to my chapter for a promotion document, but our building is closed and I do not have access to my bookshelf. @sabrbbcards.bsky.social @buckweaver.bsky.social www.amazon.com/SABR-Umpires...
Look, anybody can run for less than 4 minutes. When I run a mile I spend 8 or 9 or even 10 minutes getting that workout in. Guy is just cheating himself quitting this early.

Back in my day we had entire shows that revolved around pushing your friend in a grocery cart as fast as possible and letting it go in an abandoned parking lot late at night just to see what would happen (and hope there wasn’t a subsequent hospital trip)

Gold's Gym offered a $24.99 monthly that supposedly would never increase as a new sign up offer at a new location. They have now reneged on that and doubled the price.
All the admins blindly signing up for integrating these tools into the university software stack available to students should be fired yesterday and never hired again. It is a complete dereliction of duty on their part. (Yes they can be accessed elsewhere, but the stamp of approval is the issue).
Andrew Heisswoof ≈80% of assignments this summer term have essentially been just raw chatgpt/claude output, including assignments that required designing stuff in illustrator/affinity/canva. The battle is lost for asynchronous online courses.
