Can't imagine a worse use of time than requiring me to track down the month of all 130 or so presentations I've given in my career to put on a CV for T&P. Who are the people parsing what month these things happened in? Who hurt them? Do they need their mommy?

Previously, my highest yearly review requests was 39 (1st Round + Revision). On pace for 51 this year. That's 1 per week. If I decline your invitation please don't be offended. There are like 5 journals I will not likely ever decline - you know who you are. Stop writing so many papers, people.

Hard to know what this means for peak. But top guys currently pitching into their 40s (Scherzer, Verlander) have lost only 1 or 2 ticks from their peak. Kershaw down more than 5 ticks by 37. So let's say Randy lost 5 full mph by 2008. Then his peak was still ~4 mph slower than 2026 Misiorowski.

Trying to find an issue with a very complex merge from a couple years ago - that I thought went fine - related to name merging. First comment in the (very large) R file is: ###need to add names from other file but fcks up the merge - FIGURE IT OUT FRIDAY So, I must have forgotten that Friday...

Filename naming convention for tenure & promotion at Texas is that they are not allowed to include candidate names in the filename. All candidates across the university have to submit the same (~40) files and filenames (not including copies of every paper). I'm sure this plan is totally foolproof.

Look, anybody can run for less than 4 minutes. When I run a mile I spend 8 or 9 or even 10 minutes getting that workout in. Guy is just cheating himself quitting this early.

So universities are now asking each co-author to provide letters stating contributions of each person to projects for promotion? Thousands upon thousands of unnecessary hours you’re throwing onto people? Is this an outgrowth of all the gift authorship bullshit I’ve watched grow the last 15 years?

All the admins blindly signing up for integrating these tools into the university software stack available to students should be fired yesterday and never hired again. It is a complete dereliction of duty on their part. (Yes they can be accessed elsewhere, but the stamp of approval is the issue).

Rafael Devers had a really abysmal April. Baseball is hard. Not including his home run to start the night tonight, he has a .926 OPS since May 6. Story of his demise seems to have been exaggerated.
