The giant new (as of last year) works in the entry hall are stunning. Art museums aren’t always my jam but the place looks fantastic.

Oh, and Left Bank Books is one of the great indie bookstores. Go there if you’re in town and order from them online instead of giving money to Bezos even if you’re not!

What I DID do today: visited a world-class art museum and saw a lot of nice animals for a total cost of $0, including parking. St. Louis is an amazing city and Forest Park is a wonderful place.

Watched most of the carnage at a pub where the very friendly male bartender pointed at Jordan Walker on the TV (after I said I was a lifelong Cardinals fan) and said “Do you know who *that* player is?” We had a pleasant chat about how we speak to female baseball fans and it’s all taken care of now.

Whereas “forte” meaning “a strength” is French. Etymologically distinct but also basically the same word!

And it doesn’t have an accent in the musical usage, since it’s Italian. (Sorry, pedantry is my thing too)

Nope sorry. You don’t get to put shelters on blast for doing an impossible job and not get any pushback. I am sorry they’re hurting but I won’t sit on my hands while they blame the wrong people for that.

I’m just asking you not to blame the shelter. The work they do is so hard already. (I did it for decades.)

Shelters have to make exceptionally hard decisions every day. They can’t take on a dog with low adoption potential if they’ve got five others who need the kennel too. It sucks but it’s reality.

It’s not a bad dog! But it isn’t necessarily an adoptable dog, either. Shelters are full and a dog that attacks other dogs (for whatever reason) is a poor candidate and a liability, unfortunately.

I know it’s painful to hear but that shelter was just being honest with you. Please don’t take it out on them.
