It's terrifying to take that step and I dont know how it will go, and frankly you're 100% correct -- it is not up to us to fix someone else's heart, and it never should have been the child's place to deal with their anger and pain in the first place. Thank you for sharing, we hope you're well too.

Your experience very much resonates with us and it makes us simultaneously feel seen and pained to know that there are just... some family ties out there that hurt so much there is no other option but to remove yourself from it.

there are some decent memories in there but a lot of them are so overshadowed by the cruelty and neglect and reminders of Why we didn't reach out in the first place. grieving someone while theyre still alive is... an experience, for sure, but I do hope it gets easier one day. Thank you Reis ;;

to those who went no contact with a parent or sibling; how? how do you grieve something like this? how do you get over the fear? the guilt? that you're terrified of them but still love them? that you know its best for you but its utterly agonizing all the same?

100%, went virtually no contact since December and I've been dreading today for good reason lmao. always something like this every year and every conversation, phone call or otherwise.

update: she texted after I told her I dont appreciate it and tried to pass it off as a joke and immediately molly coddled and said not to be upset with her. the tone in audio she had was the same she'd use when she was in an angry drunken frenzy at me so. yeah sure, big laughs all around huh :U

mind you same woman who says our alters are ancestors of a past life and never brought it up again because recognizing them as alters and a disorder means she would need to take accountability and recognize the CPTSD we went through because of her. but thats inconceivable.

mother left us a very upsetting voicemail filled with the classic guilt tripping and anger and telling me she's upset with me in between "happy birthday" and a dismissive "love you" at the end. its incredible, really. super happy about that.
