The anti-climate lobby has been all over UK media this week, pushing stories designed to counter action. There's been almost no pushback from political leaders. Governments need to use these scenes as a teaching moment, to show what climate change means &what it costs www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
As I said in a @ejisbisa.bsky.social article, the public nad private are intertwined in capitalist space powers. What the private sector doing today is more 'retrofitting', mixing old technologies with modern/mature iterations in a public-private political-economy. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

This will be a very visible retrenchment of the UK for international science and space audiences. Also of note is the UK’s withdrawal of contributions from the Hawai’i and Chile telescopes.
Glen O'HaraThe UK's whole science, research and universities 'strategy' is basically 'drive the country off a cliff'. Not even worth arguing about any more. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

'it’s clear we also need new collaborative structures, theories of jurisdiction and laws; new philosophies of the human, the unique status of human culture, and interplanetary environmental responsibility; and a sharp eye on the history of human hubris.' 1/4

'On Tuesday the government published its response to the Education Committee’s report on higher education funding and the threat of insolvency. It’s 37 pages...read quickly, amount to a department competently batting away an inconvenient select committee.' 1/2
