to keep that up, you gotta be able to trust someone in a deeper way that they’re cool, or you think they cute. I feel like this part is what taught me how to engage with folks on a deeper, less individualistic, level.

It looked like teaching scams, rotations of food drops at houses and squats, exchanging jails support, checking folks knowing it’ll be your turn at some point. mutual aid is an eco-system.

It’s what makes me bristle about how people use “mutual aid” lately, because what they’re describing or often fleeting and lopsided interactions. The mutual aid I came up with built on itself and searched for a balancing.

What I learned tho, is that anarchist building requires more than the kind of friendships a lot of people are used to having. Anarchist have been writing about how affinty groups and individual relationships should function. Some of it is really annoying, but I like that we take this seriously.

I get called hypocritical for this, or not really anarchist, but honestly…the best way to prove me wrong is to do what I’m doing better than me your way.

I started out similar to the Occupy model with being into anyone showing up and being heard out. That’s cool and important for certain things. But a lot of important stuff has to involve some agreed on standards.

And they’ll play folk against each other to get in there, trying to alienate anyone they think is lk “incharge”. The amount of solid you gotta be with people to guard against that is so much higher than other kinda of formations.

I’ve been hyped for any award I’ve ever gotten for my work. But I’m really understanding what it can mean to an artist after doing such a huge graphic novel. You really put so much into something, and it’s nice to see the industry say “yeah, this was good.”
