Neat paper describing the role of integrin receptors in coral symbiosis by @mela-doerr.bsky.social , @micro-megs.bsky.social and the Guse lab. Disrupting integrin binding stalls symbiosis establishment, and expressing these receptors in human cells allowed them to take up symbionts too! Very cool
