A thing to note, which Hank Green shares with so so many other “smart” people in science or tech, is that his words show he doesn’t understand how these systems work He’d continue to use these systems if they hadn’t triggered what looks like the now common chatbot mental health episode

People love RSS for the same reasons hikers love a good path. It isn't the packed dirt or gravel they're fond of, but the view it takes them through.

“"A slant fit" in a specialist job market | As in guillotine...” https://loudpoet.com/2026/07/30/a-slant-fit-in-a-specialist-job-market/ > The book world is notoriously myopic when it comes to evaluating experience outside of book publishing True words.

"A slant fit" in a specialist job market | As in guillotine...Most job listings describe a generalist unicorn under a specialist title, but most screeners are looking for people with those titles. #OpenToWork #HireMeloudpoet.com

Kind of shocking whenever I check up on the blog of somebody I used to respect who now earnestly seems to believe AGI is here. Feels like it’s happening more and more these days.

Starting to see posts and videos from dev/UX people along the lines of "AI works really well but for completely unrelated reasons I now hate my job, am feeling lost and burned out, and am planning to leave the industry" Too bad nobody tried to warn them and got repeatedly ignored or dismissed /s 🤷‍♂️

My grandparents were mostly not born 100 years ago, so their careers started postwar and involved things like retail, bookbinding, office work, cleaning, researching and translating for US Joint Staff Intelligence, and a series of get-rich-quick shenanigans in the “Only Fools and Horses” style

Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?

This is quite possibly the worst thing that could have happened to the bird life in that area. Even an oil spill from a storage tank would have been easier to contain.

Today in literally wild Iceland news: hundreds if not thousands of mink were released into the wild by a (probable) eco-activist. Residents of the capital area's northernmost suburb were urged to bring their pets and kids inside and to stay vigilant as hunters and trappers descended into the area.

“I Hate Adobe” https://aftermath.site/i-hate-adobe/ Yeah. Same.

I Hate AdobeAdobe is a wretched, exploitative company that loves generative AI. Many are coerced into paying money for their software and the software runs like garbage.aftermath.site

Wandering around YouTube and on the videos I've been watching the comments for the software dev videos have been a cesspool of rightwing hate and nihilism while the comments on the rest are mostly just silly Maybe I just got unlucky but it's not giving a good impression of the state of the field

People keep using the "can't put a genie back in the bottle" metaphor for "AI", even though in the stories they always get back in and current "AI" is more of a "we're spending trillions of dollars and the energy output of a continent trying to keep this bastard out of the bottle" situation
