Lesser the "ideal" to parents, more to the audience of kids watching. Jimmy is perfectly capable of being accepted by others, but hes just suuuch a genius. Which is annoying to some characters in show, but awesome to the kid who wants to be cool and smart and make gadgets lol

On that note, when Dexter DOES act high and mighty or full of himself, he GETS humbled. Constantly. which only emphasizes the moments when he does good or isn't acting shitty. He's interesting! There's layers to him!

Funniest character in the show, but when the nick smash bros game made him a meme it was like

jimmy neutron is in the same category of characters as walter white where he acts like he's always in the right just because he's smart. dexter is more humble with his intelligence and tries to keep it a secret. jimmy's hubris will be his downfall.

i didn't care much for fairlyodd parents either (both were what I put on when nothing else was on) but at least it was much easier on the eyes, yeah

no one take this too seriously as either a statement or critique please. i just hate his dumb bulbous head. his donkey kong ice cream hair. his nerd emoji isms. his annoying friend (mostly sheen). the uncanny lighting and animation. i want him eviscerated with a bazooka cannon to the noggin

And I think that makes the episodes where he’ll play DND or do nerdy stuff with random kids or off-screen friends more endearing, as he’s reaching out and seeking his interests in like minded people, instead of making friends through showboating. Mandark is written to show why that’s annoying, even.

I feel like that’s part of the point, to me. Dexter is entertaining because he actually has a challenge in making friends or being accepted, and theres him needing to decide if his family bonds or his life of science are more important. Jimmy has little trouble and takes what he has for granted.
