Northwest Valley Indivisible says the proposed ICE detention facility in Surprise is paused but not stopped, and that the Mayor and Council met privately with Sen. Gallego about it before recess without telling residents what was said. ⬇️ 1/2

PACK THE CHAMBERS: Stop the ICE Prison Camp in Surprise · Northwest Valley IndivisibleThe proposed ICE facility in Surprise is paused but not stopped. ICE is still moving forward with a violent mass incarceration operation across the country and could use Surprise as their base of operations in this area or as a detention center. What has the Surprise City Council done to stop this? It's time to demand their action and public opposition. The Mayor and City Council met with Senator Ruben Gallego about the ICE Prison Camp. Surprise residents still have not had a chance to hear about that meeting and weigh in. We have two jobs this week. **1 - CALL TODAY** Tell the Mayor and every council member to put a public hearing on the agenda: what was discussed with Senator Gallego, and what happens to this community if the facility opens. That means straight answers on safety for detainees and nearby residents. The site sits inside the chemical release exposure zone of the Rinchem plant. Dysart High School is 0.6 miles away. And the city's own Fire Marshal has confirmed in writing that no emergency planning conversations have taken place. If they have time to meet a U.S. Senator, they have time to share with and hear from the residents who live near this thing. - Mayor Kevin Sartor: 623-222-1313 - Nick Haney (D1): 623-222-1321 - Earle Greenberg (D2): 623-222-1322 - Patrick Duffy (D3): 623-222-1323 - Johnny Melton (D4): 623-222-1324 - Jack Hastings (D5): 623-222-1325 - Chris Judd (D6): 623-222-1326 **2 - SHOW UP AND SPEAK** Come to the meeting on August 4. Fill every seat. [Sign up to speak](https://surpriseaz-services.app.transform.civicplus.com/forms/24865) and tell the council, on the record, to stop the ICE Prison Camp. Other cities pressured DHS and got these sites pulled. Surprise can do the same. The silence from City Hall is a choice that enables DHS to abuse their power. Those who sign up to speak should focus on what city leadership can do: - Clarify their opposition to the proposed facility. - Refuse voluntary cooperation with ICE. - Coordinate multi-jurisdictional opposition. - Demand federal accountability. Not a Surprise resident? This affects you too! The opening of this facility will enable increased ICE activity across the state. Sign up to speak, join us in chambers, and if full, protest outside. Recommended sign messages (no sticks allowed inside!): - No Fear! No ICE! No Cages in Surprise! - Stand With Us, Not With ICE! - Do What's Right! Say NO Tonight! - No ICE in Surprise!www.mobilize.us

Indivisible says the CLARITY Act, a crypto bill, strips ethics rules that keep officials from profiting off the industry they regulate. Gallego voted to advance it. Kelly has not said where he stands. Gallego 202-224-4521. Kelly 202-224-2235. act.indivisible.org/... Please share.

Urge Your Senators to Oppose and Stop Trump's Crypto CorruptionLast year, the House passed the CLARITY Act (H.R. 3633), a bill disguised as “crypto regulation” that actually serves the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. The CLARITY Act is being considered in the Senate, and we need to stop it. Trump has already amassed $1.4 billion in the last year alone, and the latest bill text doesn’t include any meaningful ethics fix: It does not stop the main ways Trump has accumulated, and will continue to accumulate, crypto wealth. It would only restrict officials and their spouses from issuing or sponsoring new digital assets. It does not stop Trump's ongoing corruption: It doesn't stop his children from profiting off his office, and it doesn't require him to divest from any of his businesses making crypto deals. Use this email tool to tell your senators to oppose the CLARITY Act. We won’t let Congress enable more of Trump’s corruption or gamble away our financial stability just to appease crypto billionaires.act.indivisible.org
