I recall some executive earnings calls going viral about 4 years ago because one of them said they monitor consumer savings reports so they can raise prices any time people manage to save any money up. That every industry does it so it's a race to see who can "capture" new savings first.

Cat cafe videos have a similar effect on me since actually visiting one in Japan. All of the cats were overstimulated and as far from humans as they could get. The cafe had signs up telling people to respect the cats' wishes to be left alone and wait for them to approach first.

I was going to say that I read it all as a teenager during a week-long stay in detention for fighting, but then I remembered I got to the appendices and saw how much was left and decided that math homework no longer looked quite so bad.

My grandparents lived through the Dust Bowl in rural Oklahoma. They were always pretty displeased that our own schools in Oklahoma made it sound like small farmers were the problem instead of the big ones tilling hundreds of acres at a time.

I recommend way more sci-fi. I don't think most people fully grasp how all of the drones and AI and automation we're seeing right now are going to be turned on the working class, or how hard it'll be to reach the rich in their enclaves supported by those technologies.

Sounds calculated. They surged in winter hoping the cold would keep protesters and activists indoors. Now that most of the country is baking, they're again hoping everyone stays home instead of standing around in the heat to protest.

"We need a plan to push back against all of the authoritarianism Project 2025 introduced. Let's start with more authoritarianism!"

For example, I've heard more than one conservative coworker respond to this point with, "Yeah but how many Superbowls have they won?" or "How many times have those other countries landed on the moon?" The point is super effective with progressives but has zero effect on conservatives.

This seems like one of those points that hits hard if you're a cosmopolitan, high-openness Leftist who views these other countries as neighbors. But xenophobic conservatives view those other countries as threats, liabilities, or prey, and they ridicule football/soccer, so the point misses them.

Better than the world-eating Jimmy, at least.

You're falling for a Neoliberal psyop if you blame the "Far Left" despite the fact that Clinton and Harris would've still lost with their votes. Clinton lost over the DNC leaks and Russian interference. Harris lost over Gaza and technocrat interference. Blame that, not Progressives.
