Flanagan is the current Lieutenant Governor and former state legislator. Guess who was the last Lt. Governor to become a MN U.S. Senator? Tina Smith. She’s more than experienced and qualified for the position.

If we can elect statewide progressive champions like Tina Smith and AG Ellison time and time again— we can elect Peggy Flanagan. P.S. you can’t win statewide without Minneapolis (would’ve been helpful if Angie pulled up to one of our conventions).

I feel clear, I don’t trust Angie Craig to represent working people of all walks of life, immigration status, faith, and experience in Washington.

A supporter of Angie tagged me in a post today - critiquing that everyone calling out Rep. Craig for this transactional behavior as “performative.” Not voting and criticizing an elected official for untrustworthy behavior is not performative- it’s democracy. 🧵

Also not supporting Medicare for all? It all adds up together.

For me it’s this- paired with AIPAC money, the ICE thank you letter, the vote on Laken Riley, not showing up to Minneapolis for our conventions, and the stamp of approval from crypto. It’s not performative to state why you don’t trust a politician who is trying to represent you— it’s very valid.

At our last Minneapolis council meeting, I voted no on entering into a pilot with Skydio surveillance drones. The motion for the pilot failed 6-6. Opposed: Chowdhury, Chavez, Payne, Wonsley, Stevenson, Osman In favor: Vetaw, Whiting, Rainville, Warren, Shaffer, Palmisano 🧵

Drones surveilling us 24/7 is not the way forward. We deserve to live freely from the fear of our privacy being infringed and firearms being in the wrong hands.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families of yet another senseless incident of gun violence in Minneapolis. We need tested policy solutions. We need gun control passed at the State level.

Breaks my heart for Minneapolis that this politically expedient & baseless message is being made by some leaders. Officers showed up under a minute. No evidence that drones would have prevented this What would have reduced harm & led to prevention & is evidence backed is COMPREHENSIVE GUN CONTROL.

Finally, this is out of touch with the community and an egregiously dystopian pilot. The framing that this is a silver bullet for public safety is baseless. Surveillance isn't the key to safety, and it certainly isn't contracting with companies that also work with ICE.
