One of the toughest conversations we are having daily. Something so safe and effective is being questioned, and children are dying.

Hey, #Idaho …please make sure to read @audreydutton.bsky.social ‘s post and @deldeib.bsky.social ‘s reporting. It is an important story and important information. #IdahoHealth

This was a hard story to report. Newborns who don’t get a vitamin K shot are 81 times more likely to develop a condition where they bleed uncontrollably. But more and more families are declining the shot. And babies are dying. www.propublica.org/article/more...
I take no pleasure in saying that I and my @propublicaguild.org colleagues are on strike. It shouldn't have come to this and i can only hope that seeing the overwhelming majority of staff walk out today opens management's eyes and convinces them we're serious about our demands.

Today we're taking a collective lunch break in solidarity with @propublicaguild.org's strike for a fair contract. You can support ProPublica Guild by not clicking on or sharing PP stories today, and telling management why you're honoring the digital picket line: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
We're fighting for fair wage minimums, layoff protections and guardrails on artificial intelligence. Support us by signing our petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...
“We're not asking for the moon here, despite what management keeps trying to tell us. We need a fair and transparent disciplinary system that we can trust so that we can keep speaking truth to power, whether in the Oval Office or inside our newsroom.” — Jeff Ernsthausen, senior data reporter
“We're fighting for fair pay because people deserve to be able to afford to stay in the jobs that they love. We're fighting for protections around AI because this work is done by humans. We love this place. We believe in this work, and we are not backing down.” — Katie Campbell, video journalist
Especially considering that ProPublica is a non-profit that was founded to create a professional home for investigative journalists.
Audrey DuttonI genuinely do not understand management's refusal to agree to basic protections, like that they won't replace us with AI. It's baffling. Makes no sense. We're on strike to show management how serious we are about this, and how eager we are to get a contract done!
There’s no way to replace the kind of reporting ProPublica does with AI. That’s not how investigative journalism happens-which they should know better than anyone.
Shame on @propublica.org management. And I say that as a subscriber! Your staff does great work and investigative journalism is something our society needs and machines cannot do. Get a deal done!

I genuinely believe that the excellent journalists who founded and still manage ProPublica will come around to the Union saving them from AI.

Today, I and the rest of the @propublicaguild.org are on strike. Why? Because we deserve a fair contract - one that locks in just cause, AI protections, and fair wages for all union members.
Good morning! All day today my colleagues and I will be on STRIKE. You can help us send a message! Please do not visit ProPublica's website and tell management to give us a fair contract so we can get back to work: actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...

At today's hearing, @blumenthal.senate.gov brought up letters we obtained from kids held at the Dilley detention facility: propub.li/4lZbTF1 He also referenced our reporting on how Trump has detained the parents of more than 11,000 children: propub.li/4c2uqg9
ProPublicaNEW: Today, Congressional Democrats are spotlighting a particularly troubling part of Trump's immigration dragnet: the American kids — including some featured in ProPublica's reporting — who have been collateral damage in the deportation campaign.
