One of my major pet peeves with modern metal music (and I find this more frequently in black metal and its sub genres) is a song having a 'quiet' passage (usually somber passages, sometimes even acoustic) and then slamming into a really big distorted sound BUT THEY THEN CUT THE VOLUME TO EQUALIZE
